Hi Kate. I met you briefly after your set at New West Pride in 2019. It was only a minute, just long enough to say hi, and thank you, and get a hug, but I'd waited for it and that moment was enough You were already into your set when I wandered over to the stage, and I stopped to listen while a friend got some food. I was standing there, alone, when you introduced "Let Love Be The Way" as a song about the endless questions LGBTQIA+ folx receive. I was standing there when you mentioned questions about bathrooms and more... and then you began playing. singing. and the words of that song, the questions and vulnerability and hurt of it all was all right there, not only real to me but to you and others I was about 14 months on HRT at that point, 34 and only now living as the non-bimary trans woman I am I began crying as you sang, and had to sit down because it all became too much A woman I didn't know, a complete stranger, crouched down to see if I was okay. She asked if it was okay to sit with me, and she ended up staying with me, holding and comforting me until the song was over and I was able to stop crying. Your song hurt. It was understanding and love wrapped around my grief and pain. It left me sitting on the street, sobbing uncontrollably, surrounded by strangers... but also helped me find comfort, to not feeling alone and misunderstood and hated by everyone. Thank you for your music, Kate, and especially for that one song. Thank you. Lots of love 💙 Quinn

Hi Kate, Sorry I didn't get a chance to say thank you at the end of the concert yersterday. But THANK YOU so much for coming to GDHS!!! I heard some great feedback from students and other staff!! I think it will be an experience that everyone will remember and hopefully it will generate some meaningful and needed conversations in the days and weeks to come. I know I will do some follow-up in my classes. Thanks again and hopefully we can have you back sometime!

Happy belated birthday my crazy, hilarious, talented friend. I am no longer on Facebook so I am blissfully out of the "loop". Email me when you have the time. Or call and let's catch up.
